The key slips effortlessly into the ignition, you turn it clockwise and the engine roars to life, the little dashboard lights come on, as they are suppose to and everything looks fine. You release the brake, shift into reverse and notice the brake light is still on. You reach down and pull the lever to be sure it is disengaged…lights still on, “wonderful”. You turn the key counterclockwise and the engine stops…wait a few seconds and bring it back to life…lights still on.

OK, not a big deal, but now you notice another light…little round circle with the letters ABS inside…what the heck is this? Turn the engine off again..on again..of again…on again..stupid lights are still on.

Truck is running, gas gauge is registering, RPM dial seems to be working, oil pressure up, battery gauge, arrow in the middle…we’re off, what could possibly be wrong?

Maybe there is a short and the lights are stuck on..could we be that lucky?

Three miles down the road..AARRKKK..another light comes on..this one makes you realize there is definitely a problem somewhere…CHECK ENGINE..not a good sign.

A mile from home you look down to see how fast you are going and notice that the speedometer isn’t registering anything, but, of course this is not a major catastrophe, since you never really look at that thing anyway.

Made it home, slip into the drive and shut of the offending lights. Grab the owners manual and start wildly thumbing through the pages…the answer must be in here somewhere.

After twenty minutes of trying to make sense of this easy to understand book, you come to the conclusion that the anti-locking brake system (probably something to do with the hydraulics), is causing the brake light and ABS light to stay on and the CHECK ENGINE light being on, means the whole thing is ready to blow, or who the heck knows what’s wrong.

Does this scenario remind you of anything else?

Is your life running a little sluggishly? Maybe you haven’t had a reality check in a while, and it’s time to think about where you are going and is this the direction you envisioned when you set that goal. Are you making progress towards the goal or dream, or are your warning gauges about to come on and bring you to a screeching halt?

There is no owner/operator manual you can grab to find the answers, but life coaching can help you get the sludge out of your life, turn the warning gauges off and show you how to make progress towards that goal and dream.
