Get Rid of Your Limiting Beliefs Once and For All
Author: Personal Growth MentorWe all have beliefs that are holding us back in life, many times we don’t even know where they came from. They were usually passed on to us by our parents, our teachers or others when we were very young. It is natural for us to want to protect our beliefs, so we tend to not even question or challenge them at all. We simply have always believed them, so they must be right. The problem is that if our beliefs are in conflict with our goals, we will not be able to achieve our goals. It is crucial to our personal development that we learn to identify these limiting beliefs and replace them with new, positive and supportive beliefs.
The first step is to identify the beliefs that are holding you back in life. Take a good long look at your life and specifically the problematic areas. Now, you need to identify any beliefs that you have which could be affecting those areas of trouble. For each one of your damaging beliefs, write the opposite, positive, supportive belief. In order to train the mind to change the belief from the old to the new, we must bridge the gap. This is done by the use of phrases such as ’Even though’ or ’In the past’ or ‘I am in the process’. So an example of your new belief statement would be ’Even though in the past it was hard for me to lose weight, I am now in the process of losing weight with ease’.
Now that you are armed with your new bridge belief statements, repitition is key. You must spend time repeating and affiming the new beliefs everyday. With consistent and persistent repitition of your new beliefs, you will be on your way to the achievement of your goals.
