What Sets You Apart?
Author: Arts Musings
For many, and unfortunately this is an overwhelming majority, setting goals is as unfathomable to them as horses walking on their hind legs. Why is that? Highly successful motivational speaker Jim Rohn shed some light on the answer when he said, “I find it fascinating that most people plan their vacations with better care than they plan their lives. Perhaps it’s because escape is easier than change.”
There have been many studies done on the relationship between success/wealth and goal setting. In one such study, it was found that 95%-97% of the people do NOT have their goals written down - and they fail; 3%-5% have written their goals down and they succeed. Given these statistics, doesn’t it make just plain good old-fashioned sense to write down your goals?!
So, what sets you apart? Setting Goals!
Become bigger than your circumstances.
Accelerate Your Results

With all the research into goal-setting, success, wealth and yes, the Law of Attraction, there’s more information now than ever in history on how to reach your goals quicker and easier than you ever thought possible.
ACCELERATE YOUR RESULTS
The subconscious mind is your most powerful tool in achieving success in any area of your life. Everything you are and will be is a result of your thoughts. Your thoughts become your feelings. Your feelings become your results. In order to change your life, you’ve got to change the way you think. This is where current research in Quantum Physics comes into play. I won’t bore you with the details, but trust that these proven techniques will accelerate your results:
○ Write your goals out and read them daily
○ Visualize yourself having already achieved your goal - again daily
○ Create a vision board featuring pictures and words that represent you reaching your goal - review it daily
○ Repeat affirmations of success - take a negative belief about your success and turn it around into a statement of belief - repeat this several times a day
○ Inspire yourself by reading biographies of successful people, personal development books, audio and programs
○ Surround yourself with a powerful support network - this means limiting the amount of time you spend around negative people, environments and information - consider turning off the news
When you do what the successful do, you too will be successful.
Chunking It Down
Author: Arts Musings
It’s okay to have big goals. In fact, dreaming big is far better than thinking small. It takes you out of your comfort zone and develops the confidence and self-esteem required to actually live your dreams.
However, big goals can often make you think it’s impossible. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will your dreams. Chunk your goal down into smaller, shorter-term goals. If your goal is to run a marathon and you’ve never even made it one lap around the track, well, that marathon may seem way out of reach. Make a smaller goal to run 10 laps around the track by a specific date. That’s more believable and achievable to your subconscious mind.
Once you’ve reached your first shorter-term goal, take another chunk out of the bigger goal. By breaking down your goal in this way you’ll gain momentum through continual success.
Any dream worth dreaming is worth working for.
The Key to Your Success
Author: Arts Musings
For many, goal setting is a way of life. For many more others, it doesn’t even enter onto their radar. Regardless if this is because they haven’t learned the powerful impact goal setting can have on their lives, or they just couldn’t be bothered, we’re going to talk to the 3%-5% of people that DO set goals.
There are many tips, tools and strategies that you can use to be successful in reaching your goals. Many of those can be found right here. But there is one specific thing you can do that will ensure your belief in yourself while venturing into new and exciting territory.
Doubt and fear will rear their ugly heads on the road to success. By focusing on your strengths, you’re telling your subconscious mind that you’ve been successful before and now isn’t any different. You’re more likely to push through adversity and be successful when you constantly remind yourself of your past successes and areas of strength.
This works even when you’re doing something new. Many skills are transferable to different occupations, relationships and projects. You likely won’t have to dig too deep to recognize what your strengths are.
Success breeds success.
Success is Failure Turned Inside Out
Author: Arts Musings
I came across this recently and it reminded me that everything worth pursuing in life, is worth being important enough to push through the adversity that comes up during the ride to success.
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won if he’d stuck it out.
Don’t give up, though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor’s cup,
And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are -
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit -
It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.

Porcupine Quills
Author: Arts Musings
I didn’t expect to wake up this morning and have an obstacle in my path, but I did. I didn’t expect to be taken out of the great feeling I’ve been having, into one of fear, concern and anxiousness, but I did. What I did expect was to get up, go for a walk with my dogs and husband, and start my day the way I like to. After all, I had appointments to get to, tasks to be completed and a dinner to get ready ,so starting my day off right was important.
What did happen? Chloey and Max (our bullmastiffs) didn’t respond when I said the magic words, “ride” and “walk”. In fact, after several calls from my bedroom window, there wasn’t even movement in their doghouse. Just as I was about to go investigate their laziness, Chloey comes around the side of the house. My first thought was, how did you get there? (They’re usually in our lower field.) My second thought was, how did you get the dandelion fluff on your face. My third thought sent me into a panic of concern and fear - those are porcupine quills!!
Needless to say my whole vibration (mood) shifted. What started as a day of focused intent, fun and excitement quickly turned into one of fear, concern and WHY? I point this out because we all have distractions in our lives. We all have things happen that take us off course. It’s how we think and believe, react and respond that will affect the outcome. Not only of the moment, but the rest of the day.
I did react to the situation - Chloey and Max are no worse for wear because of it. Over the next couple hours, 3 things went wrong….then I realized that I was focusing on the negative feeling of the morning. I immediately shifted my awareness to one of gratefulness (that the dogs are well), appreciation (of the wonderful life I live, doing what I love) and love (for my friends and family).
This was a great reminder to me of how powerful the law of attraction is. I could have let this ruin my whole day, take me off course from my goals or stop me in my tracks. What I’ve learned is that we can choose what we think and feel. We can choose how we react. We can choose to refocus on what we want and not the things that we don’t want.
This wasn’t an overnight process, but it really is that simple. Replacing old limiting habits and thoughts with new empowering ones is a process. For some it’s easy, for other’s we make it harder than it has to be. What’s important is that we’re conscious of what we’re thinking and take action to change our thinking when it doesn’t serve us.
Many times we tend to allow the “things” that happen in our life be the excuse we have for not following our dreams. By focusing on my gratitude (the most powerful vibration in the Universe), I was able to return to my day with the usual excitement and love of life.
What Are You Choosing to Create?
Author: Arts Musings
We are here, living our lives, to create, not react. Everyone, regardless of race, color, religion, age, sex - we’re all creating. The truth is, we’re creating all the time. The big question is, are you doing it consciously, or unconsciously?
Conscious creation is where we want our focus to be. That means that we get clear on what we want (our goals), take focused action towards those goals, and stop thinking negative thoughts about why we can’t be, do or have what we want.
The alternative is to react to situations in our life. We are unconsciously creating these unwanted situations by the negative thoughts we have. By not focusing our attention on what we want, the law of attraction brings to us those negative things that we worry about. Minimize having to react to situations and start focusing on the positive things in your life. You know, the things you’re grateful for.
Knowing now that you call the shots, make the choice right now to create what you truly want in your life. Stop moping and take charge of your life! Make it happen! Everything you need is already inside of you. Paint your own picture.
You have to have a purpose
Author: Dream Liver
One of the biggest considerations in achieving all that you want to achieve, actually being, doing and having all of your goals and aspirations is knowing why you want them. Once you know why you can restructure your beliefs about them, no matter how big the goal or the desired outcome.
Beliefs are astronomically stronger than desires. You probably should read that again — Beliefs are astronomically stronger than desires! Your why is directly proportional to your beliefs — the stronger the why the more you will work on ensuring that your beliefs will empower you to achieve.
As we all know our beliefs are learned, we are not born with them. Our parents, society and the people within our circle of influence instilled them upon us. As a result we can re-learn our old beliefs or we can learn new ones - that’s a fact. Our beliefs have a large controlling influence on our sub-conscious mind, and our sub-conscious mind is responsible for 96 - 98% of our daily thoughts and activities.
Our brain has a filter — sort of like a noise de-limiter that you would put into a car stereo to eliminate the interference from the other electrical components. The filter for our brain takes our thoughts and impulses that our senses pick up and deliver them to the appropriate parts of the brain. That filter depends on our beliefs to know where most of these signals need to go and filters out the ones that do not fit within the structure.
This then stands to reason that even if we really want to earn a million dollars, but really do not believe that we will or can then we won’t. We could have a million dollar idea hit our thought process and never act upon it because the filter in our brain checked the belief about being a millionaire, realized that we don’t believe in that so the filter discarded the thought entirely, putting it back into the universe for someone else to find.
Developing your why about earning a million dollars will assist you in developing and changing your belief about it. A purpose, what you will do with the money, what you would purchase, who you would help and having an outcome bigger than you will allow you to believe that you can achieve.
What Can Reality Shows Teach Us About Reaching Our Goals
Author: Arts Musings
I’m not someone who watches a lot of television, mainly because our selection includes garbage, trash and violence. However, aside from some great television (Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel and Arts & Entertainment to name a few) there are some programs that I really love. My favorites are The Next Food Network Star, American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, and Last Comic Standing.
I like to say I’m not a fan of reality TV, but I’ve named 4 above that draw me back time and again. Why is it that? I’ve realized that what these programs have 1 empowering element in common…
Imagine having a dream, a passion, a goal so far out of your reach you think it’s impossible to achieve. Then along comes someone who will mentor you, take you completely out of your comfort zone in a very supportive environment, and directs you to the tools you need to be successful. All you have to do is show up and do the work so to speak. That’s what these programs do for you. They take the average person, cultivate your dream, support and encourage you while you do things you’ve never done before, as you begin to believe you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Before you realize it, you’ve achieved your goal.
That’s the value of a mentor or life coach. What’s your impossible dream? Who’s your mentor? What we now know is that anything is possible for anyone. You bring the desire and the coach will bring the toolbox.
What To Do When It Isn’t Working
Author: Arts MusingsAlong everyone’s journey towards reaching their goal, you will come to point when what you’re doing isn’t working. That’s right - not if, but when. It could be that you’re off track from your exercise regimen, or a sudden road block appears while getting your business up and running, or it could be an unsupportive environment. So what do you do to get back on track? Here are 2 simple things you can do:
1. What’s your commitment to your goal?
Are you absolutely committed to reach your goal? If you are, have you written the goal out? Do you review it daily? If your goal doesn’t inspire you to become bigger and better than you are, than it’s not a strong enough goal. Earl Nightingale said “Success is the realization of a worthy ideal.” That doesn’t mean are you worthy, it means is it worthy of you. If your goal doesn’t inspire you and make you somewhat uncomfortable in reaching it, re-evaluate what you really, really want for yourself, write it out and review it daily.
2. Where’s your focus?
Your goal is strong enough and you’re committed to doing what it takes. But where’s your focus? Are you thinking about all the things that could go wrong? That you can’t possibly reach your goal? Are you thinking of all that isn’t working and how hard it is? There’s a simple solution - put your focus back on what you want - immediately. That’s not to say you don’t take action towards your goal. When you feel your confidence in your ability to reach your goal slipping, put your focus back on the goal itself and the vision of achieving it. Expect success. The “how” will always appear when we maintain our focus and commitment to success.
Achieving anything in our lives that we haven’t achieved before means we’re out of our comfort zone. What’s so beautiful about the process of setting and reaching our goals is the growth we experience along the way. It’s the person we become to Be, Do and Have the things we want. That’s a beautiful thing!
“Never, never, never, never, never give up!”
~Winston Churchill
